Green Door Gallery is a member of the Livingston Gallery Association with Art Walks held on the fourth Friday of each month, June through September. In addition to art walks, Green Door Gallery holds year-round art exhibit openings and events throughout the year such as Art on Tap during Craft Beer Week in May and the Holiday Stroll in December.
Current Exhibit: Badass Beauties, The Culture of Rebellious Femininity. Livingston’s 4th Friday Art Walk in June will feature the photography of Natalia Boise. In this ongoing project, Boise works to capture the insecurities, confidences, struggles and her own personal experience with the feminine. Through her photography, combined with her subjects’ words, artwork and poetry, Boise hopes to re-imagine the feminine to be more inclusive of all identities. Artist reception, July 28th, 5-8pm. 120 North Main Street. 406.333.2330
Upcoming Exhibit: Murmurations, A Flight of Images and Poetry. This show combines photographs by Ian Lange of Bozeman, linocuts by Storrs Bishop of Livingston and poetry by Marc Beaudin of Livingston. Opening August 25th with an artist reception from 5-8pm.
Call for Art: Dangerous. A Mural Arts Competition. “There is nothing more dangerous than someone who wants to make the world a better place.” ~ Banksy
A Banksy-Inspired Mural Arts Competition: Everything is political. If you love Livingston, this is the exhibition for you. Art that resonates with a politically driven Banksy-esque statement is welcome. Art that wakes us up, increases our awareness of the world we live in…our sharing of the land, the water, the air; our care and protection of bison, grizzly, wolves, our elders, our children, our speech, what are the issues for you… art that demonstrates concern and celebration of the town and the land where we live.
The exhibition will be juried by a panel of locals. All art must be ready to hang and sized at one of the following: 42H x 32W; 21Hx16W; 21Hx21W; 21Hx36W. The gallery utilizes a wire hanging system. First prize is $1,500 and will be awarded at the reception September 22, 2017. The winning piece will be painted by the artist onto the side of the building that houses the Green Door Gallery. An additional $500 will be awarded after the mural is completed. Entry fee is $35 (for 1-2 pieces). Artwork may be dropped off from July 1 – September 8, 2017. Opening Reception: September 22, 2017. Artists juried into the show will be notified after the panel has made its decisions. The exhibition will run September 22 – October 20, 2017.
